Washington Chapter 324 of the Korean War Veterans Association at its monthly meeting last week approved a total of $5,000 in gifts to various veterans’ organizations and to high school JROTC units.
The largest gift approved was $1,500 to Franklin County Honor Flight.
Three Junior ROTC units in the county each was approved for $500. The units are at these high schools — St. Clair, Pacific and Washington. The Washington gift was to the NJROTC Booster Club.
Other gifts of $500 each were approved for:
Disabled Veterans Memorial, Union;
Post 218 of The American Legion at Washington;
Washington VFW Post 2661, Washington; and
The POW/MIA Museum at Jefferson Barracks.
The Korean veterans use the Post 218 building for their meetngs.
The Korean veterans raise money by accepting donations at various retail outlets in the area.
