Downtown Washington Inc. is partnering with Wine Country Wagon Rides to offer haunted history tours leading up to and after Halloween.

The wagon rides will be offered on the following Wednesdays — Oct. 4, 11 and 18, and Nov. 1, as well as Tuesday, Oct. 24.

Danielle Grotewiel, communications specialist for the downtown group, will serve as the tour guide. She will be dressed in costume as Lady Elizabeth while sharing ghost stories and hauntings during the 45-minute ride through the downtown streets.

Grotewiel will share ghost stories and bizarre accidents and strange events that happened years ago, as well as more recent paranormal activities.

Three tours will be offered each night at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. The wagon rides will start at the Main and Elm streets parking lot.

The cost is $25 per person. Snacks and nonalcoholic beverages are permitted on the wagon.

Approximately 10-12 people can ride on the wagon. Tom Siebert will be the driver.

Reservations are highly recommended, but walk-ups will be allowed if there is room on the wagon.

The wagon rides are a fundraiser for Downtown Washington Inc. Proceeds will help with continued preservation of the historic downtown area.

All tours should be booked at winecountrywagonrides.com or by calling 636-667-1174. Downtown Washington Inc. also will have a link on its website.
