Missourian readers can go to the newspaper’s website — www.emissourian.com — to view a series of engineering drawings showing how the proposed new Washington bridge over the Missouri River will look.

Readers should go to the site and click on the link under the “Headlines” bar near the top of the page.

The drawings, also posted on the Missouri Department of Transportation’s website, show the proposed new bridge design from a number of different angles and how it will look during the day and also at night.

MoDOT officials are in the process of presenting the drawings and seeking input from the public.

People who attended the Sunset on the Riverfront event Thursday evening had the opportunity to view the drawing, ask questions and offer comments.

Judy Wagner, MoDOT area engineer, is scheduled to make a presentation to the Washington City Council this coming Monday night.

The Washington Area Highway Transportation Committee viewed the presentation Monday morning and some members offered comments about the design.

Selection of the final enhancement plan is scheduled for mid August.

MoDOT will receive comments until Aug. 1. Images of the bridge will remain on display at the city hall following the council meeting.

“MoDOT and our partners are very excited to show the community images of the new bridge. MoDOT and our design firm understand how important this bridge is to the community and would like feedback on its new design,” Wagner said this week.

“We are excited there is funding to replace the bridge and will begin construction in late 2016.”
