Faith Lutheran Church will host a series of meetings in hopes of establishing neighborhood or community watch committees or groups to assist in heading off potential robberies/vandalism throughout the community.
The first meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. at the church, 1008 Bieker Road, Washington. A networking and snack get -together will be held at 6:15 p.m.
“We do not want to run the organizations, but to serve as facilitator,” said Richard Rice, church chairman. “We want (the groups) to be self-organized, self-run and self-controlled, and will offer our facilities for meetings if needed.
“We have assurances that local police will be on hand to answer questions, as they are familiar with such organizations and are desirous of being a part of this type of program,” he added.
Those interested in attending are asked to call either the church, 636-239-0554, and leave a message; Rice, 816-590-1217; or a member of the trustees.
Interested parties also may pick up fliers at the church to distribute within their area.
