The Washington Area Chamber of Commerce and Washington Missourian are seeking nominations for its Outstanding Young Professionals (OYP) Class of the 2018.

The young professionals will be honored at the annual Chamber Luncheon Monday, Sept. 24. The program will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Washington Knights of Columbus, upper level.

This is the sixth year for the awards, according to Amanda Griesheimer, Chamber marketing director.

“Together, the Chamber and Missourian will recognize the up-and-coming generation of area leaders,” said Griesheimer. “The nominees are usually nominated by co-workers or supervisors, but we have had people nominated by customers as well.”

Griesheimer said there have been 60 recipients of the OYP award since starting the program in 2013.

“It’s exciting to see new generation continuing the ‘Washington Way,’ with pride in their work, and a willingness to serve our community through volunteerism, and we love being able to recognize those efforts,” she said.

Nominees must be 40 years of age or younger as of Jan. 1, 2018, and be associated with a company or organization that is a member of the Chamber.

Nominations are due to the Chamber office by this Friday, Aug. 24.

Judging will be conducted by a committee of five — three from the Chamber’s membership PR committee and two from The Missourian.

The nomination form asks how the person has gone above and beyond the call of duty for his or her employment position; what sets the nominee apart from other young professionals; and what participation, involvement or leadership roles the nominee has held.

Those selected to receive awards will be notified to ensure attendance at the luncheon.

The luncheon is open to all Chamber members. The cost is $12 per person.

Reservations should be made by Sept. 14 by calling 636-239-2715, ext. 102 or emailing cquennoz@washmo.org.
