The Washington School Board approved the extended school year (ESY) program for eligible students and staffing at a recent meeting.

Extended School Year (ESY) is a required program for eligible students and includes transportation as a related service.

ESY eligibility and associated services for eligible students is required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

The Extended School Year will run from June 10 through June 20 and July 15 through July 25, Monday through Thursday.

A total of 43 staff members will be utilized for the program, which provides services for early childhood special education center-based students, elementary transition and resource students, and middle school and high school transition and resource students.

All services will be conducted at Washington West Elementary and Washington Middle School.
