Aerial View of New WHS Athletic Complex
A major overhaul of the outdoor athletic/band complex at Washington High School is nearly complete. The $2.3 million project includes a new synthetic turf field, spray-on track, lighting, visitors side bleachers, fencing, concrete walkway, improved accessibility and an access road. The athletic boosters are funding a new entrance and canopy, as well as the Blue Jay logo featured in the center of the field. An open house for the community is planned for Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. The following night, the varsity football team will play its home opener. A formal dedication will be held just prior to the 7 p.m. kick off. Missourian Air Photo/Jeanne Miller Wood.
