The Washington City Council Monday night approved an additional three change orders related to the fire training center project.

The first change order approved, in the amount of $15,310, was for the basement walls, vapor retarder beneath the basement floor and structural steel inspection.

The original concrete mixture in the basement walls was not an approved formulation and broke below the required compressive strength of 4,000 pounds per square inch (psi). A total of $14,482.26 was for costs associated with fixing the concrete formulation.

A total of $520 was for the vapor retarder beneath the basement floor, as the installation did not conform to specifications.

The final $308 was for additional inspection work by SCI Engineering.

A second change order was a deduction of $9,928.44, the owner’s allowance after ridged insulation was added to the HVAC ductwork shaft.

The final change order was a deduction of $4,647.87. The change was to replace a projection wall covering material, remove and reinstall an E-beam camera and labor for those projects.

The original contract sum was $1,100,500. After all change orders, including two previous orders, the contract sum is $1,063,363.89.

The change orders were approved without dissent as a part of the council’s consent agenda.
