A Washington teenager was injured last Sunday when she was involved in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 47 and Independence Drive in Union.
According to the Union Police Department, Leighanne M. Wetteroff, 19, was transported by Union Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington following the 2:10 p.m. crash. The extent of her injuries was not known.
The police report stated that Wetteroff was northbound on Highway 47 driving a 2006 Chrysler Sebring while Joseph A. Sterner, 47, of Union, was eastbound on Independence in a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. Both drivers said they had the green light to proceed through the intersection.
The Sebring ran into the side of the Passat, causing damage to both vehicles. There were no witnesses, police said.
Sterner and three passengers, Melanie K. Sterner, 49, Jessica K. Sterner, 17, and Aaron J. Sterner, 8, did not require transport to a hospital.
