Two new general dentists and a periodontist have joined Dr. Melissa Zyk, general dentist and owner of Lighthouse Dental, Washington.

They are Dr. Laura Capati, Dr. Robert Rahm and Dr. Robert Peterson.

Zyk said she’s excited about the expansion and what it will mean for patients.

“It was always a goal to expand (the office), Zyk said. “I’m excited about adding procedures that I used to refer out and having more convenient hours for patients.”

Capati

Capati, a periodontist, earned her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, attended Southern Illinois University for dental school and St. Louis University for her specialty.

As a periodontist, Capati extracts teeth, treats gum disease and places implants.

Zyk said she found herself referring many patients to St. Louis for treatments that before weren’t offered in this area.

“The needs for a periodontist are here,” she said.

Capati, who also practices at Pristine Periodontics in Festus, will be at Lighthouse Dental primarily on Wednesdays.

Rahm

Dr. Robert Rahm, general dentist, will be at Lighthouse Dental on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Rahm earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and his dental degree from Marquette University.

He also practices at Woods Mill Dental Care, Chesterfield.

Peterson

General dentist Dr. Robert Peterson will be available for appointments Mondays and Fridays. Peterson attended Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, Calif., for his undergraduate degree and Creighton University School of Dentistry, Omaha, Neb., for his bachelor’s degree.

Peterson also offers Invisalign treatments.

Zyk opened Lighthouse Dental 10 years ago and currently is in the process of adding another treatment room, for a total of six beds.

“A lot of patients don’t realize how your dental health affects your whole body,” Zyk said. “Our goal is to keep patients healthy and satisfied with their dental work.”

To schedule an appointment with any of the doctors, people may call Lighthouse Dental’s main line, 636-390-9991.
