Downtown Washington Inc.’s 28-page guide to what’s happening here and in the surrounding area is now out.
The magazine, called The Invitation, comes out every spring and is distributed all over Missouri, according to Bridgette (Epple) Kelch, executive director.
“We print about 20,000 and distribute the magazine locally and throughout Franklin County,” she said. “It also goes out all Missouri welcome centers and rest stops, the Amtrak stations, as well as are wineries and breweries, really any tourist-based businesses.”
Copies are held back for restocking as needed, she said.
Kelch said the magazine is guide to all special events and activities in the area, not just events sponsored by the downtown group.
“It’s an advertising and promotional piece for us and the area,” she said. “People really like the center spread because it has a calendar of events and information on the major activities, such as the Art Fair and Winefest, the city’s 175th anniversary celebration, the Washington Town and Country Fair and our Olde-Fashioned Christmas, among others.”
Short stories on local businesses and churches are included, as well as the Washington Historical Society, Gottfried’s Cabin, Jaycees and Photojournalism Hall of Fame.
A complete listing of all members of Downtown Washington Inc. also can be found in the magazine.
