An investigation into a suspect heroin overdose in Washington led to the arrest of a man accused of having a meth lab.

Washington Police Chief Ken Hahn said dispatchers received a report about 1 a.m. Tuesday of a possible disturbance at an apartment in the 400 block of West Third Street.

Sgt. Joe Kapustka responded to the scene and found a 32-year-old woman in the apartment who was unresponsive, Hahn said. He called for Washington Ambulance personnel to respond and they transported her to Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police officers searched the residence and found meth lab components inside.

Officers with the Franklin County Narcotics Unit were called to assist in removing the suspected lab components and conduct a further investigation, Hahn said.

A 45-year-old man who was renting the apartment was taken into custody.

He was not identified because he has not been charged in the case, Hahn said.

The woman recovered from the suspect overdose, the police chief said.
