Entries are being accepted for the 2013 Holiday Parade of Lights, sponsored by Downtown Washington Inc.
The event, always held the day after Thanksgiving, will take place Friday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will serve as the grand marshals.
The number of entries is capped at 50, so Executive Director Bridgette Epple encourages schools, civic organizations, churches and other groups to submit their applications.
All entries must be “decoratively lighted,” she said.
The parade will wind through the downtown streets, beginning and ending at the Main and Elm streets parking lot.
There will be two judging categories: nonprofit and business/individual.
The top winners in the nonprofit division will receive a trophy and the first-place entry will receive $100. Trophies will be presented to the top three winners in the business/individual division. Entries can choose not to be judged.
Bank of Washington is the corporate sponsor this year.
Immediately after the parade, Santa and Mayor Sandy Lucy will light the Downtown Christmas tree at the Main and Elm streets parking lot.
Epple said the tree will go up Monday, Nov. 18, however the lights will not be turned on until after the parade.
Santa will be available after the tree lighting to visit with children under the Farmers’ Market.
Parade entry forms can be found on the organization’s website.
