Three local projects and one city official are semifinalists for downtown revitalization awards at the upcoming Missouri Main Street Conference.
Winners will be announced Thursday, July 31, at the Evening of Excellence, awards ceremony and dinner, the highlight of the annual conference.
Missouri Main Street Connection will present Downtown Revitalization Awards in 18 categories.
The conference will take place July 29-31 at the Sheraton Clayton Hotel.
Bridgette Kelch, executive director of Downtown Washington Inc., said she learned Tuesday morning that four of the six projects the group entered are semifinalists.
“We’re very excited and hopeful that our community might win one of more awards,” Kelch said.
The downtown group submitted entries for the following categories:
• Best Adaptive Reuse — Gottfried’s Cabin, formerly the office of Downtown Washington Inc. and now being used as a guest house.
• Outstanding Public Official — Mayor Sandy Lucy.
• Outstanding Special Project — City of Washington’s 175th Celebration.
• Best Streetscape/Public Improvement — Front Street Parking.
Kelch said the awards ceremony is a great opportunity to showcase the people, projects and activities in downtown revitalization.
