Washington police are investigating allegations that the office manager of a local construction firm embezzled money from the company.
Police Chief Ken Hahn said the case was filed Friday with the prosecuting attorney’s office which declined to issue any charges until a full accounting of the company’s books is completed.
Hahn said detectives had determined that at least $37,000 had been stolen from the company and that the suspect admitted to the theft.
He said investigators suspect that more than $200,000 was taken from the company over the last two to three years.
The names of the company or the suspect won’t be disclosed until the prosecutor makes a decision on issuing charges, the police chief said.
