Game booths, rides, live music and food will be featured this weekend at the St. Francis Borgia Regional High School campus.

The Catholic, co-ed high school will present its annual Borgia Fest Friday from 4 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Admission to the festival is free.

George Wingbermuehle, school president, said many new activities have been added, including laser tag, an Agri-Land and an alumni Mass in the school theater Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

“We’re also asking all of our former students to stop by the Alumni Association tent and receive a free T-shirt this weekend,” he said.

Wingbermuehle said Borgia Fest is not about raising money, rather it’s a “friend-raiser” to bring alumni and their families, as well as the general community, to the school grounds.

“It’s a very family-oriented event, and just a great opportunity to meet up with friends,” he said. “All are welcome, whether you went to Borgia or not.”

Tours of the Catholic co-ed high school will be offered each day as well.

More than 15 carnival rides will be featured, along with game and food booths being sponsored by partner grade schools and parishes.

There is a charge for the carnival rides and tickets can be purchased in advance at a reduced cost by calling the high school at 636-239-7871, extension 197. Tickets also can be purchased at the event.

The Mr. Borgia Contest will again be held during the festival on Friday night.

Live Music

The live entertainment is free and will feature Borgia’s own gSilent G band Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. The band is comprised of Borgia students. Also on Friday will be Dick and Jane from 7 to 11 p.m.

Saturday’s lineup includes the Borgia Jazz Band from 2:30 to 4 p.m., followed by Schmitts & Grins from 4 to 7 p.m. and Sh-Boom from 7 to 11 p.m.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase both days. Food items include pulled pork, brats, hot dogs and barbecue hamburgers, as well as funnel cakes, kettle korn, Borgia cookies and Ted Drewes custard.

There will be nominal charges for some of the games, including laser tag. For more information on that event, people may call the high school. Other information is available at borgia.com and on the SFBRHS Facebook page.

Other activities being held in conjunction with Borgia Fest include the Melanoma for Mike walk and run, a three-on-three basketball tournament, and the Duane Haddox Memorial Three-on-Three Soccer Tournament, all Saturday morning.

A 2002 Jeep Wrangler and quilt will be raffled off during the event with the winners being announced at 10 p.m. Saturday. Winners do not need to be present to win.
