Returning for the second year to the Washington Town and Country Fair this year will be People’s Choice Brewfest.
The event will take place Sunday, Aug. 11, from noon to 4 p.m. under the Entertainment Tent.
Becky Stieffermann, Fair assistant, said participants will be able to enjoy a 2-ounce sample of more than 40 beers from over 18 breweries.
The cost is $5 which includes a small commemorative mug.
As they sample, participants will vote for their favorites. The top four winners will have their beer on tap at the 2014 Fair.
Last year’s top four will have a tap at this year’s Fair, Stieffermann said. They include Charleville Half-Wit Wheat, Boulevard 80 Acre Hoppy Wheat, Shock Top Lemon Shandy and Tin Mill Red Caboose.
“We hope people will make plans to attend,” Stieffermann said. “It’s a great event to gather a group of friends and head to the fairgrounds.”
There also will be music under the Entertainment Tent during the brewfest. The Washington Brass Band will play from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by the BagLunch Blues Band from 3 to 7 p.m.
Participants must be 21 years and older to sample.
