Local Women Honored As Servants of the Poor

Several local women were presented with Servant of the Poor awards during the 16th annual Catholic Women’s Award Celebration Sunday, Aug. 18, at Holy Spirit Church, Maryland Heights.

Awards were presented to women who serve the poor in extraordinary ways and who have chosen to live simply.

The model of the award is Mother Teresa.

Award winners include Barbara Barlish, St. Gertrude, Krakow;

Linda Beste, St. Ann, Clover Bottom;

Pamela Jane Hacker, Holy Family, Port Hudson;

Maria G. Killian, St. Gerald, St. Gerald;

Pam Manuel, St. Bridget of Kildare, Pacific;

Joyce Mentz, St. Francis Borgia, Washington; and

Norma Roth, Our Lady of Lourdes, Washington.

Along with a certificate of recognition, each recipient received “Where There Is Love, There Is God,” by Mother Teresa.
