The Washington School Board will conduct its annual evaluation of the superintendent this month.
Each board member will fill out an evaluation document, scoring Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer in the following areas:
• School Board Relations/Governance;
• District/Community Relations;
• Instructional Leadership;
• Human Resources; and
The superintendent will be scored on a scale from 1-5 — 5 being the best.
VanLeer has provided board members with information illustrating the work she has been doing in each of the areas.
The data from each individual member will be collected and an average score given for each indicator in the above criteria areas.
The board will spend time in executive session prior to next Wednesday’s regular meeting to discuss the superintendent’s performance and review one another’s evaluation data.
Typically, the board has VanLeer attend part of the closed session to share their thoughts and provide feedback before finalizing the document. The board also will decide whether to extend her employment contract.
VanLeer joined the Washington School District in July 2003. She took over as superintendent in January 2009.
