Planning is under way for Pumpkin Palooza, sponsored by Downtown Washington Inc. and the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce.
Pumpkin Palooza, now in its second year, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Main Street, between Elm and Cedar streets.
Downtown Washington Inc.’s traditional candy crawl will be incorporated into the event. Children will be able to trick-or-treat at downtown shops between noon and 4 p.m. that day.
The Farmers’ Market vendors also will extend their hours until 5 p.m. for the event.
Activities will include a hayride, Babaloo, photo booth, face painting and carnival games.
Many churches and organizations will be on hand to sponsor the games, and food and drink will be available for purchase.
Pumpkin Palooza will feature a variety of contests, including:
• Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off;
• Pumpkin Pie Baking Contest;
• Anything But Pumpkin Pie Contest;
• Ghost Hunt:
• Pumpkin Seed Spitting Contest;
• Pumpkin Roll;
• Pumpkin Decorating; and
• Costume Contests.
Preregistration is required for the Giant Pumpkin Contest and Pumpkin Roll only, but to save time the day of the event, people may sign up for the other activities in advance.
Forms are available at the Chamber office or the downtown post office.
People will be able to register for many of the contests the day of the event.
