A 33-year-old Union man is charged with setting fire to a car near downtown Union Tuesday.

Jon P. Bergman is charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with knowingly burning or exploding, a felony, after he was caught on tape setting a vehicle on fire at Mulberry and Cherry streets about 3:30 a.m., according to Union police.

The car was parked near the First Presbyterian Church of Union, which is near both the owner’s and suspect's home.
