The PTO from Union Middle School will hold its annual Art and Craft Show Saturday, Nov. 11, and Sunday, Nov. 12, to benefit the students and teachers at the school.
This is the 33rd annual show. There are more than 330 booths that will be filled with works of art, gifts for young and old, items that interest men and women, food booths of all descriptions, and very unusual artistic items.
Shopping hours are Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The PTO strives to have items that are handmade and that are suitable for the shoppers’ needs. All workers at the fair are volunteers including the students who help the crafters set up their booths, the teachers, staff, and parents who help run the operations, the Kiwanis who help with check-in, and the parents who assist everywhere.
One of the largest jobs is moving all the furniture in the school out of the classrooms on Friday afternoon. There are 25 classrooms that have craft booths in them, and crafters fill the two gyms, cafeteria, and all hallways. In addition there are always 15 or more vendors outside in tents.
This year products range from pottery, wood items, jewelry, metalworks, paintings and prints, dog treats, florals, herbs, candles, handmade cards, purses, ceramics, carved rings, furniture, musical tins, dough ornaments, clothing, gift mix sets of dip, clocks, soup, and cookies, picture frames, wooden signs, magnetic jewelry, pet supplies, skin care, snowmen of all descriptions, toys, handmade soaps, spices, herbal products, stained glass, jelly and jam, books and journals, washer sets, lodge decor, granite fountains, lanterns, wooden name signs, and much more. Food items include cookies, kettle corn, salsa, fudge, potato rings, breads and desserts, barbecue sauce, chocolate pretzels, roasted nuts, potato chips, and a cafeteria full of luncheon items.
A full-service cafeteria will be staffed by the Union High School Band Boosters.
