A Union man was charged with burglary after he was observed by officers hiding bags of items that were allegedly stolen.
Walter Vega, 34, was charged Monday in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with felony burglary and a misdemeanor for stealing less than $150.
According to Union police, officers responded to a home on North Oak Street for a statement from a victim who wanted to file a report of stolen jewelry and clothing.
The victim’s door had been pried open and the door frame was damaged enough to allow entry, police said.
Officers located suspects at a nearby residence on Robin Street. They witnessed Vega attempt to hide a bag full of stolen items. More stolen items were found in a trash can.
Charges have not yet been filed against the other suspect, a 41-year-old female.
Vega is being held at the Franklin County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
