A 24-year-old man has been charged with statutory rape and child molestation of a 16-year-old Union girl Saturday, April 8.

The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued felony charges against Cory D. Booth Monday.

According to the probable cause statement filed by Union police, the victim told police she was sleeping when the abuse started but woke up and attempted to prevent the incident.

Booth told police he knew the victim was 16 years old and that he had been “spooning” the victim while she slept, as well as fondling various parts of her body, police said.

Booth is listed as homeless, but has been living in Union, according to court records.

A $50,000 cash-only bond was issued for this case. Booth is being held at the Franklin County Jail.
