The Union Fire Protection District along with the National Fire Protection Association are promoting this year’s Fire Prevention Week message “Have Two Ways Out.”
The message is a reminder to always have two means of escape from a home in the event of a fire.
A home escape plan developed and practiced by the family can be lifesaving as fire spreads rapidly leaving very little time for one to escape.
Fire Prevention Week runs Oct. 7-13. Union firefighters will be visiting local schools to deliver the “Have Two Ways Out” message, discuss fire safety with the children and perform school fire drills.
Fire Prevention Week materials are available at Union Fire District Station No. 1 or visit the National Fire Protection Association website at www.firepreventionweek.org.
