Sidewalks on West State Street and Clark Avenue are awaiting final approval from the Missouri Department of Transportation before work begins.
The board of aldermen Monday night approved the bid for construction of sidewalks that will tie into Clark-Vitt Elementary, the middle school and park. It also ties together the recently completed lake improvements funded through a Community Assistance Program (CAP) grant.
The board approved the bid 7-0 with Alderman Dennis Soetebier not present.
The lowest bid was $90,000 over budget, at $323,989, primarily because of an increase in concrete costs, according to City Engineer Jonathan Zimmermann.
Work will be completed by Krupp Construction, Ellisville.
The city received a Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant to finance sidewalks. The grant requires a 20 percent funding match.
Zimmermann said he expects work to begin around the end of January.
