Union police officers are searching for a suspect and stolen vehicle taken in an alleged carjacking in the areas of Highway 50 and Old Highway 50 mid-day Wednesday.

The suspect is described as a white male, tall and thin, with short brown hair, believed to be in his 20s.

The stolen vehicle is a white 2004 Mazda MPV (minivan) with license number 1CG75.

According to the police report, a female victim was at the intersection of Highway 50 and Old Highway 50 when the suspect jumped into her vehicle on the passenger side and motioned for her to drive.

After a short distance, the driver stopped at a stop sign when the suspect exited her vehicle and ran to some other parked cars nearby, leaving the door open.

Police said when the female got out of her car to close the passenger door the suspect then ran back to the driver's side and drove away with the vehicle.
