A Union man faces attempted robbery charges for allegedly trying to rob Fricks Market Sunday morning.
Jeffrey A. Sohn, 24, Union, was charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with first-degree attempted robbery. He is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
Sohn was arrested Monday and charged Tuesday morning.
Police responded to Fricks around 8 a.m. Sunday for a holdup alarm that was set off by an employee at a cash registers.
Officers were told that a man wearing long clothing and underwear over his face as a mask handed a note to a store employee demanding money.
The suspect indicated that he had a weapon, but one was not displayed, police said.
No money was given to the attempted robber before he fled.
Officers canvassed the area Sunday morning but were unable to locate Sohn. A hoodie and the mask discarded as the suspect fled and were recovered by police.
Police Chief Norman Brune said Sohn confessed to the attempted robbery.
