Union Police are investigating the death of a newborn at a home on Old Highway 50 East in Union. According to police, officers responded to a call for an infant who was reportedly in cardiac arrest Monday morning. 

When police arrived at the home, the three-week-old girl was not breathing and had no pulse. She was transported by Union ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington where she was pronounced dead. 

Police said initial reports revealed that the baby was placed in the bed with her parents Sunday night and when they awoke Monday, the child was not breathing.
