Charges are pending after Union police located a stolen vehicle parked in town.

Police said an officer ran the plates of a vehicle sitting on the corner of East Park and North Church streets. The check came back and showed the Hyundai Santa Fe was stolen.

Three people, a 29-year-old man from Bridgeton, a 26-year-old woman from Union and a 32-year-old man from Union, were inside the vehicle.

Police said a fourth person, believed to be a 37-year-old Union man, fled on foot before police arrived. The man was located in the woods near North Church Street.

All three men had warrants for their arrest, according to Union police.

During a search of the vehicle, police reported finding drug paraphernalia. All four subjects were arrested and booked at the Union Police Department.

Charges will be filed at a later time.

Property Damage

A 19-year-old was issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.

Officers were dispatched to Clark-Vitt Elementary Saturday, Oct. 6, at around 4 p.m. for a report of a damaged sign. Police said they discovered a 19-year-old man hit sign with a vehicle and left the scene.

He was identified and issued a citation.

Stolen Cars

Union police were dispatched to Casey’s General Store for a report of stealing motor fuel, but found a stolen car instead.

An employee told police the driver of a red Jeep Wrangler was acting suspicious. The employee took down the license plate of the vehicle.

The driver is described as a white male in his 20s, average height and dark hair.

The employee said the man left the gas station without paying for fuel.

Police later discovered the Jeep actually was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

Another car was reported stolen early Monday morning.

The vehicle was taken from Circle Drive in Union sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning,

Police had no information regarding the suspect.

Union police once again remind citizens to lock their vehicles.

Burglary

Union police are investigating a reported burglary in the 600 block of South Highway 47.

Police said someone broken into the residence and stolen multiple items. The residence had been unoccupied for some time prior to the break-in.
