The city of Union will host an electronics recycling event this Friday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the street department’s maintenance shed, 202 W. Brown St.
Acceptable items include computers, printers, keyboards, laptops, hard drives, cellphones, pagers, radios, scanners, speakers, VCR players, DVD players, fax machines, answering machines, televisions, stereos, furnaces, water heaters, air conditioners, microwaves, power tools, kitchen appliances, lawn and garden equipment or anything with a cord or battery, whether it works or not.
There is a charge for CRT computer monitors, $5; CRT televisions, $30 or $50, depending on size, wood console and big screen/projection televisions, $50; LED/LCD/plasma televisions, $5; and freon-containing devices, $10.
Lawn and garden equipment must have gas and oil removed.
No smoke detectors, batteries, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, DVDs or VHS tapes will be accepted.
The event is open to everyone. Cash and nonperishable food items will be collected for the Union Food Pantry.
