Road Closure

A construction crew worked to locate a water line on Denmark Road Tuesday, January 9. Denmark Road is expected to be closed for 90 days for bridge replacement and roadway improvements.

Denmark Road officially closed Tuesday for work on the intersection at St. Andrews Drive and replacing the bridge just east of St. Andrews Drive.

Changeable messaging signs have been placed on Highway 50 to try to slow the traffic at East Denmark Road.

Those who live in St. Andrews subdivision or west of the bridge will have access to Highway 50 through St. Andrews Drive. Those east of the bridge will have to use East Denmark Road to get to Highway 50.

The road is expected to be closed for 90 days.

The improvements are part of the 2014-17 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) approved by the East-West Gateway Council of Governments in 2015.

This is the second phase of the Denmark Road project. The first phase was completed in 2014 and included new lanes and shoulders from Prairie Dell Road to just east of St. Andrews Drive. Sidewalks also were installed along that stretch of the road.

The total project cost is $1,621,044.60.
