Mobile Home Catches Fire

Area fire crews worked together to extinguish a mobile home fire on Moreland Drive, located off Highway 47 south of Union Sunday, Feb. 4.

The Union Fire Department was dispatched at 11:31 a.m.

According to Union Deputy Fire Chief Don Zweifel, when crews arrived, there was heavy fire coming from one side of the single-wide trailer. The structure was approximately 30 percent engulfed.

When the call came in Union crews also were assisting at a fire on Shotwell Road in Gerald.

The Boles and St. Clair fire protection districts attacked the fire. Boles made an interior attack from outside and St. Clair crews went inside to fight the flames.

Beaufort-Leslie and Pacific districts assisted, as well as Union ambulance. There were no injuries to occupants or to firefighters.

Zweifel said the cause for the fire still is under investigation.
