Students on all East Central College satellite campuses could pay slightly more for their education next year.

ECC President Jon Bauer proposed a facilities fee to the board of trustees at the Oct. 7 meeting that would offset some of the cost of building improvements at ECC satellite campuses.

Bauer is proposing a fee of $5 per credit hour. The fees would be assigned to a fund that would be specifically designated to the campus where students register.

Projected revenues from the facilities fees based on 30 hours per semester would average about $150 per year per student. That would bring in about $75,000 from the Rolla campus, $15,000 from Sullivan, $18,000 from Washington and “a small amount” from Warrenton, Bauer said.

Bauer said even with the facilities fee, ECC would still cost less than other community colleges in the area.

“It’s part of our commission to be affordable,” he said. “I still think relative to this area and to other community colleges we still remain very, very affordable.”
