The Union R-XI School District Board of Education will meet Wednesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in the boardroom at the high school.

Some of the items on the agenda include an action to consider approval of the sale of general obligation bonds through L.J. Hart & Co. and an update on the school safety assessment.

The general obligation bonds were approved by 59.47 percent of the voters during the April 2 election to improve safety and security at all the district’s facilities by constructing, equipping and furnishing new entrances with cameras and the installation of keyless locking systems to interior classroom doors, to complete roof and window replacements, and to the extent funds are available, to complete other repairs and renovations to the existing facilities of the district.

The district also is looking to make some safety-related improvements, including some new surveillance equipment and automated door locks.

Also on the agenda is an action to approve stadium repairs.

A private donor has funded a project to remodel the entrance to Stierberger Stadium and make other repairs.
