Several area school districts have announced early dismissal today, Thursday, Dec. 5, due to inclement weather.
The Union School District is dismissing one hour early, at 1:50 p.m, which is the same as Friday dismissal throughout the year.
Steve Bryant, Union District Superintendent, announced the early dismissal through the district's School Reach phone messaging system.
East Central College is dismissing at 2 p.m.
Sullivan schools closed at 11:40 a.m.
St. Clair schools is closing at 1:30 p.m.
St. Clare Catholic is closing at 1:30 p.m.
Washington elementary schools will dismiss at 1:10 p.m.
Secondary students will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m.
The Four Rivers Career Center will dismiss at 2:10 p.m.
St. Clair, Lonedell
Because of the expected arrival of inclement weather during the day, both St. Clair R-XIII and Lonedell R-XIV schools are dismissing early on Thursday.
Superintendents Mike Murphy and Jen Ulrich made the announcements for St. Clair and Lonedell, respectively, through phone blasts sent to district patrons.
Lonedell is dismissing at 12:15 p.m. while St. Clair is letting students go at 1:30 p.m. Bus transportation will be provided.
Ulrich also said scheduled boys basketball tournament games for Thursday afternoon and evening have been postponed.
Edgar Murray Elementary School Principal Larrinda Witt told The Missourian that Thursday night's fourth-grade music concerts will be rescheduled for 6 and 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9.
Ulrich sent a phone blast to Lonedell patrons shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday announcing the early dismissal. Murphy's phone blast was issued at about noon.
If classes are canceled on Friday, additional phone blasts will be issued.
