A 34-year-old Union man faces felony assault and weapons charges after striking his wife Saturday and discharging a semiautomatic pistol in their home.
Christopher R. Anderson is charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with first-degree felony assault and armed criminal action. Prosecutors requested a $25,000 cash-only bond.
Union police were called to a Hall Avenue home at 11:54 p.m. after reports that Anderson had been punching and slapping the victim repeatedly. The incident began outside the home and then continued inside the residence, police said.
Anderson also choked the victim and held her down in a bathtub.
During the struggle, a semiautomatic weapon that the suspect was holding discharged inside the Hall Avenue home, according to Union police.
The struggle continued until police arrived at the home.
