A 19-year-old Union man was arrested Wednesday afternoon following an investigation into heroin distribution.

According to the Franklin County Narcotics Enforcement Unit, the man was arrested by Union police and narcotics officers following a traffic stop near the Northside Market on Washington Avenue.

Authorities allege he was in possession of 18 heroin capsules, or “beans,” and small amount of marijuana. The man also had heroin and marijuana paraphernalia.

The man was suspected of selling heroin in the Union area, according to the police.

Charges will be sought for drug possession, drug distribution and possession with the intent to distribute. The man’s name has not been released pending formal charges.
