The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing at the East Central College campus in Union June 11, 2014, to receive public comment on sewer rate cases filed by M.P.B., Inc. and P.C.B Inc.
The hearing will be held in Conference Room A at the college. A question and answer session will begin at 6 p.m. followed by sworn testimony from customers.
M.P.B., Inc. sought to increase annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $3,621 in its Lake Virginia service area and by approximately $27,375 in its Villa Ridge service area. M.P.B., Inc. serves approximately 202 sewer customers near Villa Ridge in Franklin County and near Festus (Lake Virginia) in Jefferson County. P.C.B. Inc. serves approximately 300 sewer customers near Cedar Hill and Festus in Jefferson County.
Under the agreement, annual sewer operating revenues would increase by approximately $9,770 in M.P.B., Inc.’s Lake Virginia service area and by approximately $40,024 in its Villa Ridge service area, according to the PSC.
Under the small rate case process, the PSC staff audits the books and records of the company. After the audit, the staff presents its findings as well as its initial recommendation for resolution of the rate requests to the Office of the Public Counsel and the company. Based upon discussions between the PSC Staff, the Office of the Public Counsel and the company, the PSC Staff and the company reached an agreement under which operating revenues would increase by approximately $40,024 in its Villa Ridge service area.
In Villa Ridge Estates, the rate for residential service would increase from $26.17 to $34.25 under the proposed agreement.
