The 2013 Franklin County Fair will feature country music singer Randy Houser as its main entertainment.

Franklin County Fair Chairman Eric Schmuke said Houser’s past contains no shortage of achievement, including multiple nominations for ACM and CMA Awards, a No. 2 single in the form of “Boots On,” and songwriting credits for major names such as Trace Adkins, Justin Moore and Chris Young.

In 2008 Houser’s first full-length album “Anything Goes,” came out, followed in 2010 by “They Call Me Cadillac.”

Houser will release his third album, “How Country Feels,” on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, and it’s named for the hit “How Country Feels,” Houser’s fastest-climbing single.

“The Fair Board has been working hard to put together a new schedule of events for this year’s fair,” said Schmuke.

Some of the major events this year include:

Thursday, July 11 — Queen contest and the pig scramble;

Friday, July 12 — Mid-Missouri Off Roaders mud run and local band, Crazy Aunt Linda in the entertainment tent;

Saturday, July 13 — National Federation of Professional Bullriders bull ride and Randy Houser on the Main Stage;

Sunday, July 14 — Truck and tractor pull.

“There also will be plenty of other events in the Family Pavilion like the Little Mr. and Mrs. Franklin County, the baby contest, and super farmer,” said Schmuke.

He added that the board is excited to bring back the Mid-Missouri Off Roaders Association to host the mud run on Friday night.

“In the 2009 Mud Run, you couldn’t find an empty seat in the stands,” Schmuke said.

He noted that the Fair Board will accommodate the requests of spectators and pullers who asked that the truck and tractor pull be run on two tracks.
