Area residents who are not members of the Union Chamber will soon get a crack at purchasing tickets to hear St. Louis Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny speak.

Tickets will be available Friday to the public for the Union Area Chamber of Commerce end of the year banquet. Tickets have only been available to Chamber members.

The Thursday, Nov. 21, event will be held at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center. Matheny is the keynote speaker.

“Ticket sales are going really well, we are so pleased with how excited the community is about this event,” said Chamber President Stacy Rio.

She added that people may contact the Chamber to be placed on a waiting list.

The cost is $50 per person, which includes an open bar and prime rib dinner provided by Johnny’s Restaurant.

“I am really looking forward to meeting Mr. Matheny and listening to him speak,” Rio said. “This could not be happening at a better time. I am very excited, not only on behalf of myself, but for the Chamber and the town as well.”

Tickets will be available to the public until Nov. 15.

The Chamber still is soliciting sponsorships from businesses. Sponsors will take part in a meet and greet with Matheny prior to the dinner.

There are three levels of sponsorships, each with different incentives. There is a $1,000 home run level; $500 bar level and $200 dugout sponsor. The event also will feature a silent auction, and items are now being accepted. The auction will fund Chamber events and education for its members.

People may contact Chamber Executive Director Aimee Frey to donate silent auction items or to sponsor the event.

The new Chamber logo may be unveiled during the dinner. Local designers and artists are invited to submit artwork for the new Union Area Chamber of Commerce logo, which is part of an overall branding effort at the Chamber. The winner will be selected Nov. 12.

Artwork must be submitted in a high-resolution digital file or a clean camera-ready copy, and it must be submitted in black and white, gray scale and color;

The logo must contain “Union Area Chamber of Commerce” and “Union, Missouri” to be eligible.

The winning designer will receive $250 and will be featured in the November e-newsletter, the Chamber website and the Chamber Facebook page.
