The last chance to purchase tickets for a chance to hear Mike Matheny speak is this Friday.

The St. Louis Cardinals manager will be the guest speaker at the Union Area Chamber of Commerce end of the year banquet.

The dinner will be Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center. Tickets went on sale to the public Friday, Nov. 1, and prior to that tickets were only available to Union Chamber members.

There are about 30 tickets still available.

Matheny managed the Cardinals to the World Series in 2013 in his second year as manager. He took the team to the playoff in 2012.

As a player, Matheny earned four Gold Glove Awards as a catcher. He played professional from 1991 to 2006, including four years with the Cardinals.

The cost is $50 per person, which includes an open bar and prime rib dinner provided by Johnny’s Restaurant.

For more information, people may call the Chamber at 636-583-8979.

The Chamber still is soliciting sponsorships from businesses. Sponsors will take part in a meet and greet with Matheny prior to the dinner.

There are three levels of sponsorships, each with different incentives. There is a $1,000 home run level; $500 bar level and $200 dugout sponsor. The event also will feature a silent auction, and items are now being accepted. The auction will fund Chamber events and education for its members.

People may contact Chamber Executive Director Aimee Frey to donate silent auction items or to sponsor the event.
