Three Sullivan residents were killed early Friday when they were involved in a head-on collision on Highway 185 in Washington County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol's preliminary online report, Casey A. Edwards, 25, Valerie R. Lewis, 28, and Shari J. Ryerson, 56, were killed in the 6:30 a.m. accident about a half-mile north of Highway EE.

The patrol stated that Edwards was driving a 2000 Mazda 626 southbound on Highway 185 while Travis H. Rawe, 22, of Potosi, was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram northbound. Rawe attempted to pass another northbound vehicle while on a hill and pulled out into the path of Edwards.

Lewis and Ryerson were passengers in Edwards' vehicle.

Rawe suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. His injuries were reported not to be life-threatening.

No one involved in the accident was wearing a safety belt.

Both vehicles were totaled.
