Three St. Clair residents were injured in a head-on collision caused by an alleged intoxicated driver Saturday, Nov. 4, off Highway 47 near Basket Street.

Police Chief Bill Hammack said Patricia Williams, 54, was driving a 2005 Ford Escape eastbound on Highway 47 when the driver of a 1991 Chevrolet 1500, Brian Ashburn, 45, traveled into her lane and crashed head-on at 11:15 p.m.

Williams, Ashburn and his passenger Jessica Allen, 32,  were transported to a hospital by St. Clair Ambulance for injuries.

Hammack said Ashburn was arrested for a suspicion of driving while intoxicated and police are seeking second-degree assault charges because of the accident.

Correction: The St. Clair Missourian incorrectly identified Jessica Allen as a passenger in the wrong vehicle in a story in the Nov. 8 edition. Allen was a passenger in the Chevrolet 1500. Firefighters did not extricate her from the vehicle. The Missourian regrets the error.
