A Sullivan woman was serious injured in a vehicle crash Wednesday July, 4, on Interstate 44.

Nicholas J. Meier, 37, Waterloo, Ill., was driving a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on I-44, when he failed to maintain his lane and struck a parked vehicle on the right shoulder at 7 a.m., according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol preliminary report.

Inside the parked 1999 Dodge Dakota was driver Alan R. Olge, 28, Sullivan. After the PT Cruiser struck the Dodge Dakota, the Dodge Dakota struck pedestrian Stephanie M. Shanahan, 28, Sullivan.

Shanahan was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Meramec Ambulance with serious injuries.

Both drivers involved were wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
