Sullivan firefighters responded to a structure fire Wednesday, March 7, in Sullivan that has been deemed suspicious.

Crews were dispatched at the 400 block of Olive Street in report of a house blaze at 5:15 a.m. According to Sullivan Fire Capt. Nolan Crawford, the house was vacant and the electricity was not connected.

Two hose lines were used that were connected to a water hydrant to put out the fire. Firefighters approached the blaze with a defensive attack on the outside of the structure. Shortly after crews arrived, the roof collapsed, according to Crawford.

The fire was under control around 8 a.m. The structure is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire investigator. No injuries were reported.
