St. Clair Elementary and Edgar Murray Elementary schools will be collecting donations for the Jump Rope for Heart campaign through Feb. 28.

The campaign is for the American Heart Association. The public can donate online at heart.org and search for Edgar Murray Elementary or St. Clair Elementary, donate through the hoops/heart application, bring in a money envelopment distributed out to each class or call in a donation.

Mitch Lundy, St. Clair Elementary physical education teacher and fundraiser coordinator, said faculty and staff are proud to celebrate and support the American Heart Association by participating in the fundraiser.

“Raising money through Jump Rope for Heart can help a lot of people and we are excited to be able to help,” Lundy said.

“We are teaching our kids the importance of taking care of your heart with proper exercise, nutrition, and by giving them the facts they need to live a healthy life. The Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser is an amazing event that also teaches students that they can help save lives.”

Edgar Murray Elementary has a goal of $2,000 and so far, $1,218 has been raised, according to Christopher Bahr, Edgar Murray physical education teacher and fundraiser coordinator.
