A St. Clair man was arrested while driving stolen vehicle.

Cory L. Gumpenberger, 41, was charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with tampering with a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia Wednesday, Oct. 31.

A white-colored 2010 Dodge Charger was reported stolen from Best Used Car lot Oct. 24 at 9:20 p.m., according to Police Chief Bill Hammack. On Wednesday, a St. Clair High School student told the school’s resource officer that he saw the white Dodge Charger drive past the school.

A sheriff’s deputy saw the vehicle in Parkway Village and initiated a traffic stop, according to Hammack. Gumpenberger was driving the vehicle and the deputy arrested him. Officers found drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Gumpenberger confessed to a St. Clair detective that he had stolen the vehicle a few days prior. His bond was set at $15,000, according to Hammack.
