St. Clair firefighters responded to a residential fire Tuesday, Jan. 2.
At 11:50 a.m., crews were dispatched to the 600 block of West Springfield Road regarding a report of smoke in the residence, according to Fire Capt. Dan Cooley. The call was made from a passer-by.
Cooley said the passer-by knocked on the door of the residence and no one answered. The fire spread to a bedroom, the living room and part of the basement.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly, according to Cooley. No one was inside at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The fire is believed to have been accidental.
St. Clair firefighters were assisted by St. Clair Ambulance.
