St. Clair firefighters responded to an outbuilding fire Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Crews were dispatched to the 1000 block of Shady Street at 4:54 p.m. in response to smoke showing from the outbuilding.

Fire Capt. Dan Cooley said firefighters made an interior attack on the blaze and it was extinguished within 20 minutes. There was extensive damage to the back area of the 30-by-40 outbuilding, as well as damage to equipment inside.

There were no injuries reported and the fire was determined accidental, according to Cooley. St. Clair crews received mutual aid from Union.
